Summary

Most people have basic wordprocessing and spreadsheet needs.  Creating resumes and sending letters…managing lists of people or simple financials is the extent of of most people do inside of a productivity suite.

Many people are used to using Microsoft Office.  It will go the way of Lotus 123, Star Office and the dinosaur.  People are spending hundreds of dollars on a software program because it’s “what they know”.  I ask to you explore your options because it’s easier than you think.

Microsoft “open sourced” their support a long time ago

By this, I mean…when was the last time you actually called Microsoft and got help from someone?  Most people call the company who sold them the computer or take it to an independent when something goes wrong

ustreamer-3102 : Velma: I can tell you now Oprah and Steve Harvey almost made me forget you today.  It good that you started late.  Don’t go up against Oprah in the eastern time zone. Start after 5p.m.

ustreamer-14357 : simonesdad2009. The picture looks good.  You are working with a monsterous bandwidth.  My dream is is huge bandwidth for everyone, everwhere.  Europe and Asia are light years ahead of us.

ustreamer-3102 : The quality is improved since last week when I started viewing your show.  Your hands don’t look like a ghost (cloud) when you move them. They actually are clearly hands now.  What did you do?

ustreamer-14357 : 29.97 fps is broadcast quality…fyi

Ideas from the show

What was up with the live video quality at for the Kevin Pollack Chat Show?  I feel much BETTER  about my lifestream broadcast now.  I did want to see LeVar Burton’s segment but my ears were hurting from the horrible audio.

I list all the Google Services I have used

It’s a bad idea to lie in front of an audience that you were able to connect with MC Hammer on Twitter.

Contest Question: What year and month was Google Docs released?

Answer: October 2006

    Shane,

Oprah is not required viewing. We women who view her shows choose to do so because we like it. Why don't you try viewing something that you like as well. It beats being mean spirited because you don't like programming for women.
  • You mentioned The Droid, and you correctly ordered the productivity apps! It's a double win for Adria!! ::

I was wrong about the MC Hammer thing. Twitter search only goes back 60 days. So it turns out that he wasn't completely lying. But it was a VERY popular post ... and my real point was to draw attention to the fact that he was just recently convicted of a grand scale medical fraud, and is still a full time scammer and predator. Still on that mission!

Please forgive me for straying from the topic, I don't spend time talking about her, it was just your comment that caught me off guard.

Back to more important things..... Open Office gets TWO THUMBS up from me.

Your friend can get MS Office for free if he wants and knows where to look. I haven't paid for office since 2001. if he doesn't want to go that route, Open Office is a great alternative. It's easy to install, takes up few resources and is pretty compatible with MS office applications. Personally I wouldn't trust Google Apps, too much exposure to big brother.

    PS

The Oprah & Steve Harvey show was total BS. Her relationship shows are only from the female perspective and she'll never give voice to any real men who are honest.. I can't believe so many women fall for her BS.
  • @Shane Vicious,
What do you think Oprah's message is to women about men?

Is that what you first message is about? If so, please feel free to explain how Oprah benefits or hurts relationships between people.
  • @Shane Vicious,
Thanks for the info. The goal is to own the software outright without having to "do special things". Having a copy of Microsoft Office shouldn't be akin to buying drugs but it pretty much is.

Well, I don't know. There are women who are watching the lifestream here at AskAdria.com. They could be watching Oprah too. I think Oprah is an amazing woman who has overcome obstacles and who is giving back. Steve Harvey is a funny guy.

There's nothing wrong with helping other people so I can't share in your disgust for who Oprah has on, who watches her show or for women (and men) who like her.
  • Shane Vicious
    @Adria,

Oh, i think you misunderstand me, my disgust isn't for Steve Harvey, it's for Oprah Windbag and her propaganda machine. Dr. Goebbels would be so proud of her.
