Hi Adria,
You actually just responded to an email that I sent you about this issue and I appreciate it very much. I watched the “6 Certifications” video that you suggested and it was very helpful, but seemed to be geared towards those with tech experience already. I look forward to you re-doing this one for newbies.
My question… I just started reading a very thick A+ Certification book to prepare for that test. So far I know everything that I'm reading, but I'm only on Chapter 4, so we'll see… It sounded like you weren't so hot on A+ mattering anymore. Should I even bother? Let me say that my interest lies MUCH more in the Web, Databases, OS, and Helpdesk areas than sitting in a backroom surrounded by hardware all day, but won't an employer automatically expect an A+ “in addition to” knowledge in the areas that I'm interested in, or can I skip right on over the next 1000 pages of reading?

Your welcome.
Skip the 1,000 pages if you don't want to do helpdesk/network administration
and fix computers all day. That's what A+ is for. It's a vendor neutral
certification by Comptia certifying you understand how to troubleshoot,
repair and fix computer hardware.
6 Certifications also works for people fresh out of school with no
experience at all.
Find out more about the jobs you think you want, do informational interviews
with people holding these jobs, prep your resume, practice your interview
skills and start targeting companies.
I'll be redoing the show next week.
Thanks,
Adria Richards
