Why are cigarettes so addictive?

Every year, teens all over the world start using tobacco products. I share my story where I started smoking as a teenager.

Cigarettes are a gateway drug to Alcohol abuse and other drugs like mushrooms, marijuana, cocaine, LSD, meth and crack.  Often, young people start up because their friend are.  If you’ve never encountered an addictive substance, you have no idea what you’re up against when you inhale the first puff.  Unfortunately, many young people become hooked on cigarettes for life so I hope to raise awareness to warn young folks about the dangers of smoking.

We’ll discuss addiction and how they destroy people’s lives.

We cover how people with ADD and ADHD often turn to stimulants like cigarettes and sugar to maintain focus as they struggle with undiagnosed ADD. I have ADD/ADHD.

Many health insurance plans won’t pay for smoking cessation programs but they will pay to remove your diseased cancer lung like they did for my coworker.

Types of Tobacco Use

  • Smoking cigarettes
  • Chewing tobacco
  • Sniffing tobacco

Methods To Quit Smoking

I discuss techniques I used to quit smoking including Zyban and how I didn’t quit the first time I tried. It took 4 times over 7 years before I quit for good.  I found Zyban to be the most effective.  I took it for 6 months after quitting to help me stay on track.

  • Gum
  • Hypnosis
  • Eating Food
  • Zyban (bupropin)

Don’t give up!

thank you very much Adria for this useful speech about smoke addiction.

In the past I wasn't able to quit smoking, I tryed several times without success because my willingness was weak, so I started to improve my will-power with the help of yoga and going running every day; run every day reduced a few my desire/addiction and yoga made my mental concentration and willingness more strong, helping me to stay away from tabacco for the time to completely disintoxicate myself.

Now are six years that I do not smoke a cigarette and I dislike the taste/smell too; my life quality improved a lot and my health too. No willingness, No disintoxication.

You can also try to quit smoking by using the electronic cigarette… This gadget is great as it allows you to set the rate of nicotine which can be reduced following a progressive scale.

Very true…but back years ago the 'in' thing was to smoke, I don't think it's so much that way today. We didn't have the smoking ads we have now (all the smoking ads made it cool), it wasn't so 'outcasted', etc. Now it's not as accepted, there's more information about it everywhere (tv commercials, etc.), and it's just a totally different ballgame.
