I’m going to contact Comcast, Newegg, ThinkGeek, Jinx, Techsmith, 37Signals, Firefox and Affixa.  This won’t necessarily be for financial or product sponsorship but also to ask how I can help shocase some essential products I use daily.  A poster for my wall wouldn’t hurt :)

Why Paper Is Killing Your Productivity

  • Paper is not an effective method of storage, retrieval (think FBI, CDC, health records)
  • It’s vulnerable to water, fire, theft
  • OCR is Optical Character Recognition
  • When I go to the Dr. at HealthPartners, they enter things directly onto a computer tablet, I can make appointments online and view my health records

Actions I’ve Done to Reduce My Paper Use Since 2006

  1. Email invoices to my clients
  2. Use GPS TomTom so I don’t print out directions anymore (get lost a lot less too!)
  3. Encourage clients to pay their invoices online rather than send payment by mail
  4. Began using Echosign to send contracts and have clients digitally sign them
  5. Use Quickbooks with paperless statements from my bank to reconcile
  6. Paperless statements for utilities including car insurance, electricity and cell phone
  7. Scan documents with Evernote software for easy keyword searching later
  8. Increase virtual conversations by phone vs in person meetings so I can take notes electronically
  9. Share that Word document in Google Docs so both of us can edit and see changes real time
  10. Using 1/2 sized or 1/4 size notebooks for taking notes
  11. Keep track of my mileage on PDA with software program that records my start/end odometer

Why Newegg is Awesome

It’s easy to do RMA (Return to Manufacturer), It’s easy for me to compare products, the technical information on the site is clear and hyperlinked to the manufacturer site, they’re affordable, they have a variety of computer parts.  I’ve been buying from them since 2005 and am a repeat customer.

I modified a t-shirt I got from Newegg to make it more “girl friendly”

Hi Adria. I really enjoyed your video. Got some good ideas and explanations for things I’d not thought about before.
