Jailbreak your iPhone with Pwnage Tool

Tonight I jailbroke four iPhones using iPhone Dev Team’s Pwnage Tool.  Based on this recent post on Pwnage Tool 3.1.4, I updated the iPhones on my Macbook Pro in under 2 hours.

Jailbreak instructions for 3GS

Jailbreak instructions for 3G

Jailbreak instructions for 2G (1st Generation)

iPhones jailbroke in the show

  • 3GS from 3.0 firmware to 3.1.2
  • 3G from 2.2.1 firmware to 3.1.2
  • 3G from 2.2 firmware to 3.1.2
  • 2G from 3.0 firmware to 3.1.2

All these iPhones were previously jailbroke and unlocked on the T-Mobile network.  I like to use the tutorials at iClarified because they’re updated quickly and the screenshots are helpful.

    Hello,

Thanks, great tutorial. I am running a 3Gs, Version 3.0, build week 28 (number 4&5 from the serial number) and a baseband firmware of 04.26.08. I Jailbroke mine using the IPSW from the Dev Team. My wife has the same phone but her's wasn't Jailbroken. I read on the Dev Team site about Blackra1n's development and did as directed to her phone: upgraded to 3.1.2 and 5.11. I attempted to 'make it ra1n' and it didn't work. I tried finding custom IPSW's for her phone since I run Windows XP. Do you know where I can find a trusted, custom IPSW?

    Thanks, Rob

    Rob,

Are you telling me you don't have a Mac handy to create your own custom
.ipsw file or are you saying your wife has a different model?

I recommend you stick to the iPhone dev team tools only.

    Questions
What model of iPhone does your wife have?
Do you have a mac available to you?
Do you know what baseband your wife's phone is on?

    Greetings,

Thanks for getting back to me. My wife's phone is a 3Gs, 3.1.2 FW and 5.11.07 baseband FW, uses AT&T as the carrier and is a build 28 (#s 4 and 5 from the serial number). Her phone has never been Jailbroken. I attemped to Blackra1n her phone on my Windows XP Pro machine… no luck. I troubleshot using the hundreds of troublshooting guides for Blackra1n… still no luck. I restored to the Apple firmware and tried to find a custom IPSW online to JB. I am worried about using an IPSW from an online source and do not own a Mac (nor do any of my friends… all PCs). I am unable to JB since I do not have the resources.

    Thanks, Rob

    Hi Adria,

Well, I bought a 3Gs 16Gb with 3.1.3 FW with BB 05.12.01 and 6.4 Bootloader. I have ransacked the internet trying to find an unlocking solution for it. But looks like there isn't one right now. I bought the phone in US but i want to use it in India, cause that where i am from. I stumbled up on your video, and thought i just might give it a try. I have been waiting to buy this phone for more than a year and now that i have it, i can't use it. So it would be great if you could let me know if by any miracle you know a way of unlocking the same. waiting for your reply !!

    Cheers
    AG
